Local DC Tech Exec Tapped for Obama’s Transition Team

November 7, 2008

Just days after the election and things are moving along fast.  I was really happy to be passed this article and see that one of our own local DC technology executives and entrepeuers, Julius Genachowski, was tapped by President Elect Obama to sit on his Transition Team.

Julius is one of the founders of Launchbox Digital, a local an early stage investment firm located in Washington, D.C., is focused on helping entrepreneurs get through those challenging early days by bringing capital, advice, and practical guidance to help early stage businesses succeed.  I had the fortune to be invited to their recent summer demo day of their first crop of companies and was able to meet Julius.  He seems very young and vibrant and I look forward to him adding great value as he helps guide the new administration’s technology policies.

Congrats to Julius and good luck on your new venture !

MD Based Ninja Tickets Launches Enhanced Beta

October 20, 2008

Potomac, MD based company Ninja Tickets has released an updated beta version of their powerful ticket search engine.  Their trademarked Ticket Engine is a

first online event ticket search engine that scans the Internet for available tickets to sporting events, concerts and theater shows, then presents the real-time results to consumers based on the ‘market value’ of each seat.

This enhanced beta offers real time ticket results from 6 sites, including Ticketmaster and StubHub.  What also separates Ninja Tickets is their ability to scan these tickets and determine a Price Rating and notes where each ticket should be located based on the asking price, offering what they consider a true market value to the Ninja Ticket customer.

This technology sounds pretty intense and a great resource and value to the end user.  The last tool in the arsenal is the Ninja Tickets Live Results which gives the user real time ticket data.

Ninja Tickets is a local company that was started by Cliff Mark and Dan Marsh when they saw an very inefficient system.  Mark was recently named by Bisnow on Business as one of the area’s top 35 entrepreneurs under 35 years old, and Washingtonian Magazine recently listed Ninja Tickets in their “hot stocks” section - the link here goes into a little bit about the two co-founders - http://www.washingtonian.com/articles/businesscareers/8451.html
